In the News: Jeremy Carter-Gordon Visits High Spen

Jeremy, who describes himself as an ethnochoreologist, hails from Boston, Massachusetts in the USA.   He is a graduate of Bard College, NY where he majored in traditional dance.   He is currently in receipt of a Thomas J. Watson Foundation Fellowship award to visit Europe to study hilt-and-point sword dancing of every type.    In the past few months he has visited France, Spain and Italy.   His visit to England has so far netted him the Kingsmen, Sallyport and Carlisle sword dancers.

He came along to the the High Spen Practice on Tuesday to meet Ricky Forster and to learn a bit about our traditional sword dance from the north east of England   We even managed to walk him through the High Spen First Dance. We wish him all the best with his endeavors. You can follow his blog at:
